Ginger Kerrick

Ginger Kerrick Davis grew up in El Paso, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Physics from Texas Tech University.

Ginger began working for NASA Johnson Space Center as a summer intern in 1991 and spent the first four years of her career supporting the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate as a Materials Research Engineer. In 1995 she transitioned to the Mission Operations Directorate where she served as an ISS Environmental Control and Life Support System Instructor and then a Russian Training Integration Instructor for the Expedition 1 crew. In 2001 she was selected as NASA’s first non-Astronaut Capsule Communicator (CAPCOM) and then in 2005 as NASA’s first Hispanic female Flight Director. After leading numerous ISS and Shuttle missions, Ginger ended her Flight Director career in 2012 and transitioned into a management role as Assistant Director for the ISS for the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). In August of 2016, Ginger was named as the Division Chief of the Flight Integration Division in FOD where she was tasked with ensuring that our astronauts’ interests were considered in the designs and operations of the SpaceX Dragon, Boeing Starliner, and Orion spacecrafts. In 2020, Ginger was selected as the Deputy Director of the Exploration, Integration, and Science Directorate and later as the JSC Associate Director for Vision and Strategy before retiring from NASA in 2021.

Ginger currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at Barrios Technology. She also serves as Vice Chairwoman of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.
